![]() One thing that I do is to set the buffer size low-ish and see if you run into any pops or drop out and then raise it to the next level and see if it keeps happening. In order for a project to use a large amount of data, it will often pause the song as your CPU becomes overloaded. Too high and your performance won't feel right. Too low of buffer size and you will begin to hear dropouts or even hiss in your speakers/headphones. Otherwise you won't hear the signal of your instrument until some time after you play it. If you are using the input monitoring function on your DAW or tracking any instrument where your focus on the performance is important, then you want less latency. ![]() Buffer size is extremely important in making sure that the latency of your music is at a level that is fitting for the project you are doing.
